SPRING 2011 REGISTRATION INFORMATION -- SMIDGETS and ACADEMY

SMIDGETS
The TASA Smidget Program is an introductory program for children ages 4-6.  The program allows participants to learn and have success in a positive, informal environment.  Children learn control, passing, and shooting through fun skill activities.  The program runs simultaneously with the Academy and D1 Programs.  Class will be held 5:30-6:30 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday for 6 weeks.  The cost is $50.

TASA ACADEMY
The TASA Academy Program features a higher level of training and development compared to a recreational league. It provides an excellent opportunity for players to develop technical skills and learn the game with licensed professionals.   This program focuses on player development of the individual, group and team.  Our program is managed and operated by Warner Sports Promotions, a Tallahassee based company with 25 years of soccer training experience.   It involves skill instruction by professional, licensed coaches during the week, festival style game format with teams from surrounding areas. TASA Academy gives players a great chance to improve their skills in a competitive environment.

• Under-8 plays 4v4 games with goalkeepers (Birthdays will fall between: 7/31/05-8/1/03)
• Under-10 plays 6v6 games with goalkeepers (Birthdays will fall between: 7/31/03-8/1/01)
• Under-12 plays 8v8 games with goalkeepers (Birthdays will fall between: 7/31/01-8/1/99)

IMPORTANT DATES:
Registration and Player Assessments, Tues., 2/7 and Thurs., 2/9 at Remington Soccer Fields

Registration will take place prior to assessments.  All applications (for TASA & State Affiliations) must be submitted on day of assessment.  Parent signatures are required on both applications.Players should wear shin guards and suitable footwear, and are encouraged to bring their own ball. All NEW players must attend this evaluation.  New players must provide us with a copy of their birth certificate. All paperwork, including payment, will be returned to any player not selected for a team. We are in the process of preparing the registration forms, which will be posted soon; or, you may obtain registration paperwork at the field. Additionally we are working to provide on-line registration for your convenience.

Team Practices Start on Thursday,  February 16th (all training at Remington Soccer Fields)
Training will be conducted every Tuesday and Thursday, 5:30-7:00.  Games will be scheduled at Remington Soccer Fields and surrounding areas. Guaranteed 8-game season ending May 12th,2012.  ALL TASA Technical training is provided by licensed professional soccer coaches from Warner Soccer.

Cost: $200 per season for all players (includes registration, field costs, referee fees, friendly playdate fees, and technical training by Warner Soccer staff). 

• There is an annual registration fee of $50 for new players only
• There is also a $80 uniform fee (uniform includes: home and away jersey, 1 training shirts, shorts, and socks) (if needed)

REFEREE INFORMATION: Soccer Players are encouraged to grow in the sport by becoming referees. There is no minimum age, but TASA generally recommends that players be 6th-grade level or older. Complete information is provided on the website http://www.gareferees.com. You can also register and pay for classes on this site.
Classes are being offered in southwest Georgia at the following times and locations:
Grade 9 (entry level referee), Friday evening and Saturday Jan 13-14 at the Boys and Girls Club of Valdosta, or Friday evening and Saturday Jan 20-21 at the Albany YMCA..
Bridge Class (Grade 9 to Grade 8) is offered Saturday Jan. 14 at the Boys and Girls Club of Valdosta.
Recertifcation Classes for Grade 9 and Grade 8 is offered at the Albany YMCA on January 7 from 10am - 3pm.
